I contrast it with my other friend, who is much less attractive, subdued, and all-around Beta. He actually gets more initial dates, believe it or not. He actively works to GET dates, he has the Jewish community setting him up, he is an architect, etc. But….almost never gets a second date. It’s like the girls see him and just starting running the other way, almost to a T. On the plus side, he just had an almost unheard of third date…pressure him for a few details….yep, she’s a nerdy STEM who has a job lined up at one of the big-time consulting companies, she’s just about to graduate. Hasn’t had those few years of post-baccelaurate “maturity” and probably surrounded herself around with a lot of other nerdy guys.
We’ll see what happens.

You forgot to mention the most obvious and probably most important factor: in every era and culture it is considered unmanly to not produce more than you consume. The underlying assumption is that it is vital for any community that its women remain fertile. But since women cannot be fertile and materially productive at the same time, it is considered self-evident that men create a surplus of wealth for women and their children to consume.
