I find it pretty hard to believe that most people have much choice about their orientation. I find it pretty hard to believe that most people have much choice about their orientation. Having a kid was a very high risk decision all through history (though the risks changed through time), it was resource hungry, outcome uncertain etc. Clearly we had to be wired prettty heavily to reproduce even as our brains grew. Each of us is the product of a long chain of people choosing to reproduce.
Now when that wiring goes awry (in nature’s view of getting the kidlets spawned), I’m sure that it is a very strong effect on the mind.
If you’re going to persecute people for their basic desires, you might as well persecute people for their height / blue eyes / ginger hair. They have about as much choice about those things as they do about being gay (IMHO).
(The obvious exception is paedophilia, the reason for that is that the other person cannot give mature consent. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t care what two or more mature, sane, consenting adults get up to. But they have to be mature, sane and consenting.)
